Anal fistula

Previous medical condition

A full year ago, the patient felt pain near the anus and swelling, so he saw a doctor who diagnosed the presence of an abscess, and the doctor treated the abscess and cleaned it, but 40 to 50% of cases of abscess in the anal area are followed by the formation of a fistula.

Persistent symptoms

A year ago, the patient was relieved from the pain, but the secretions continued to appear intermittently, so he visited the doctor again to treat the abscess and clean it, and the patient visited a number of doctors without a radical solution to the problem with him. The recurrence of the tumor, followed by pain and secretions, and then visiting the doctor to clean the abscess.

The patient visited Dr. Khaldoun and during the stage of investigation and interrogation that the doctor carries out with the patient to find out the history of the disease, he learned from the patient that he does not suffer from any diseases except that he had previously suffered from a fistula and had an operation to treat him.

Muhammad, most of his complaints were related to constipation and the presence of a colon disorder. The clinical examination showed the presence of a small crater near the anus, which is located at the place at 3 o’clock in relation to the anus, which produces purulent secretions, which is called a perianal fistula.

Full recovery is our goal

To find out the fistula and its type, Dr. Khaldoun conducts a rectal ultrasound test, which is a procedure that is performed in the clinic and gives accurate immediate results of 99%. The examination is performed with an injection of a substance, this substance helps to display the path and branches of the fistula and reveal them for a complete treatment.

This examination of the patient discovered a fistula with the following characteristics:

  • The length of the fistula is 6 cm
  • The fistula penetrates the main muscle that controls and stops stool
  • The fistula had no branches (unbranched)

The treatment that Dr. Khaldoun used to treat this fistula is the use of endoscopy and laser with a process called VAAFT, followed by the doctor by injecting biological materials taken from the patient’s own blood instead of the materials that are extracted and disposed of from inside the fistula.

The operation was performed under sedation and was successful, and the patient was discharged afterwards without bandages and without injury. The patient was discharged from the hospital two hours after the end of the treatment procedure. No further action is required.
The patient sees the doctor twice:
  • The first review, after 10 days, the patient was leading his life normally, but there is little fluid coming out of the fistula treatment site, which is normal.
  • The second review after 3 months, in which a complete recovery was seen
